Why are our parks closing?

I just watched a very odd segment on Glenn Beck.  In Arizona there are numerous parks that are in danger of closing, in fact two have closed in the last few days.  This is not totally surprising considering the financial mess that the country finds itself in but the problem is that even after a private business has com in and offered to run the parks(to make a profit of course).  I for one am 100% pro business and beleive that the capitol markets, if kept in cheeck with some common sense regulations will in the end turn out to be the best system.

Lets face it, one of the main causes of the housing crisis was actually the “progressive ideal” that says we all deserve to own a home…actually we don’t.

Now they want to block the parks being taken over by buisnesses.  And here are some of the downsides of lettting the parks shut down:

  • Loss of jobs
  • Destruction of expensive property
  • Loss of natural management

So what do you think?  Which is worse losing our state parks or turning them over to private business.  Lets face it though for as much as business is decried they create jobs while they also do many good things for the environment.  I will cover that in a later post.
